Dr.Dr. Chris Wroten Named AOA's Young OD of the Year
The OAL is proud to announce that Chris Wroten, OD has been named AOA's Young Optometrist of the Year! This award is given annually to ODs who have shown exemplary leadership and service to the profession of optometry. Dr. Wroten received his award at the AOA Congress in Chicago, June 27-July 1, 2012.
Dr.Dr. Jay Miller Named Louisiana's OD of the Year for 2012
The OAL's OD of the Year award is given annually to an individual doctor of optometry for an outstanding career of service to the profession, to the OAL, to their patients, to their community, and to the eye health and visual welfare of the public. This year's honoree is Jay Miller, OD, of Eunice, Louisiana.
Dr.Dr. Keith Menard Named Louisiana's Young OD of the Year, 2012
The OAL's Young OD of the Year is awarded annually to an OAL member in good standing who has been practicing less than 10 years and has demonstrated exemplary leadership to their profession, the OAL, their patients, and their community. This year's recipient is Keith Menard, OD, of Lake Charles, Louisiana.
Dr.Dr. David Heitmeier Named Louisiana's Statesman of the Year, 2012
The OAL's Statesperson of the Year Award is given for recognition of a public servant's outstanding contributions to the profession of optometry. This year's recipient, Senator David Heitmeier, OD, has done more for optometry in the past several years than anyone in recent memory.
Dr.Dr. Jarrett Johnson Recipient of Louisiana's 2012 Public Service Award
The OAL's Public Service Award, which is given to a person or group in recognition of extraordinary public service to the visual welfare of mankind, and may be given to individuals, educational institutions and organizations, research programs, or civic and community groups. This year's winner, Jarrett Johnson, OD, is a graduate of Southern College of Optometry, holds a Masters in Public Health from Tulane University, and is a Past President of the New Orleans Optometric Society.
